I have had many questions lately on instagram about what makeup I use, so I thought I would start my first beauty post of the year off by sharing my everyday face routine with my most used makeup products as of late. Before I get started I wanted to mention how important it is to take care of your skin. I will have a full updated skincare routine soon but I wanted to mention one thing I recently started adding to my facial skin care routine…EXFOLIATION!
It doesn’t matter if it’s winter, spring, summer or fall, exfoliating is one of the most effective ways to keep your skin soft, radiant, looking healthy and feeling fresh. Not to mention, it helps prep your skin for a more flawless makeup application. Your makeup will go on more smooth, look better and last longer throughout the day. Who wouldn’t want these amazing benefits?
If you’re like me (one of the reasons I have avoided exfoliation in the past), you might think your skin is to sensitive for it and while some exfoliating products are best to avoid with sensitive skin, there are many that aren’t. I personally try and limit the amount of products I use on my face, so using an amazing at home exfoliating system that also doubles as a de-fuzzer was a no brainer for me. With DERMAFLASH you can achieve radiant skin at home with a med spa inspired exfoliation system that uses a subtle sonic vibration to sweep away unwanted dull skin and facial hair. Go from fuzzy to fabulous in a flash!
A few years ago I was talked into getting my whole face threaded when I originally went just to get my brows done. I absolutely loved the end result of having my facial hair removed and how much better my makeup application was but it hurt like heck to get it done! Plus, there weren’t any other benefits to getting it done other then having no more peach fuzz. The DERMAFLASH has been painless to use and I also get the benefits of exfoliation, not just a facial hair remover. I had blonde peach fuzz that the average person probably didn’t pay to much attention to, but I cant tell you how many times I stared at my own fuzz and having it gone has been ahhmazing!
- P.S. I tried to take really close up face shots to show you how smooth and fuzz free my face is!
Now lets dive into my everyday makeup routine!
For the past year or more I have been using the Make Up For Ever HD foundation and recently switched to their new Ultra HD Foundation when it was released. I love this foundation for several reasons- It covers the majority of my blemishes. The shade I use (N20) is the most perfect match for skin tone (I haven’t found any others that come this close to matching). It doesn’t break me out, which is rare for a foundation with my sensitive, acne prone skin and lastly, it photographs beautifully. Lately I have also been applying their Step 1 Skin Equalizer Nourishing primer before the foundation. I actually have a full review on both the foundation and primer here.
After foundation I apply under-eye concealer and blemish concealer. Make Up For Ever just released their Ultra HD concealer, so I have been testing that out for the past week or so since their foundation is my Holy Grail foundation. I currently use the shade Y23 for under my eyes and R30 for my blemishes. So far its worked amazing and I have no complains. My sister (a makeup artist) put it over her tattoo to see how well it worked and it covered it pretty darn well! She was impressed.
I set my foundation and concealer with the Urban Decay NAKED Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation in the shade light neutral. I love that it adds a little more coverage while also blurring my pores and imperfections.
Now that I have a blank canvas with no definition, I contour and highlight my face to bring back the definition. I prefer to use palettes that have both a highlighter and bronzer in them. Last year I mostly used the Tarte Showstopper Clay palette. The bronzer and highlighter in it are amazing and it comes with several eyeshadow shades that are also amazing and perfect for everyday wear. My blush changes often, especially when the seasons change. For fall/winter I have been using the Too Faced LOVE FLUSH in Your Love is King (a plumy rose perfect for fall/winter) non-stop. The last few times I have done my makeup though I have reached for the Urban Decay Afterglow powder blush in Obsessed (gorgeous light pink).
For brows I have been using the Anastasia DIPBROW Pomade in blonde, Brow Wiz pencil in taupe and their Clear Brow Gel to keep my brow hairs in place (I also use it for flyaways when styling my hair!). I also go in with their Bow Highlighting Duo pencil to clean up my brows with the matte end when I have time. These are by far my favorite brow products to use.
Once my brows are done I apply my eyeshadow. I change my eyeshadow a lot depending on the outfit I am photographing but on a day-to-day basis I have been using the Tarte Showstopper Clay palette. It has great neutral shades that I love and it’s convenient because the highlighter and bronzer I use on a day-to-day basis are also in the palette. When I have time to do liquid liner I use the UNT Eye Define liner. I line the my eyes with the Make Up For Ever Artist liner in black and finish the look with mascara. I switch my mascara up a lot as well but a few of my go to favorites are Too Faced Better than Sex mascara, Tarte lights, camera, lashes and Pacifica (swear my lashes get longer when i use this consistently)
Lipstick is the last thing I apply and it varies depending on my outfit. I love bold colors rather than nudes. I try and list my lipstick in each outfit post, so if you ever wonder what I am wearing in a post make sure to check! Some of my favorite, and most worn, lipstick brands are Bite Beauty, NARS, Laure Mercier, Too Faced and Make Up For Ever. For lipgloss I use BUXOM glosses 95% off the time.
Well there you have it, my current everyday makeup routine!
