Dermstore.com is one of the leading online beauty stores dedicated to offering their customers quality cosmetic and skin care products recommended by beauticians and experts (Dermstore was also founded by a certified dermatologist). Dermstore carries over 600 brands plus with over 22,000 product. Additionally, they have over 85,000 product reviews on products they carry from real customer. Now that is phenomenal! and a HUGE plus for me because I love to read reviews before purchasing any products.
Dermstore offers a very user friendly shopping experience via their online website. They have loads of different search options available to make browsing for products you want effortless and timeless. Plus, many of the items they offer are available at lower prices than you would find elsewhere and they do this without compromising the quality of the products they carry. They only sell products that are 100% authorized by the brands they carry, which means they are real, safe, in code and certified by the manufacturer! Products that Dermstore offers consist of brands with physician-strength formulas otherwise only available through a doctor’s or surgeon’s office, widely available quality drugstore brands, exclusive spa care lines, salon-grade brands, and difficult to find niche and specialty brands from around the world.
Dermstore also has an Expert corner where you can find highly skilled experts in your area for consultation. The licensed estheticians on staff are constantly reviewing products and personally answering questions submitted by their customers! - My REVIEW OF THE PROUCT I TESTED:
Jane Iredale has an impressive background that you can read all about here. She first introduced her minerals back in 1994 but I recently just had the opportunity to try one of her products, the PurePressed Base MIneral Foundation – SPF20. Growing up I didn’t know much about makeup and never wore much of it. In high school I finally started wearing makeup; however, I still wore very little because I still didn’t know much about it. I wanted to look natural and had heard that mineral makeup was the best way to look natural so I started buying BareMinerals. While this worked at first I noticed that my skin started getting irritated and my face no longer looked flawless or natural. I later realized that the Bismuth Oxychloride in Bare Minerals was causing great irritation to my skin so I stopped using it. Since then I have been on a MASSIVE hunt to find a foundation that looked flawless, felt weightless, didn’t irritate my skin, and was not too pricey.
While Browsing through Dermstore, I came the Jane Iredale PurePressed® Base which caught my attention; although it was not that budget friendly, the reviews were great so I decided to give it a try. I chose the color light beige because I have a light complexion with cool undertones. I tried applying the foundation with the sponge applicator inside but found that it did not give me a flawless finish like I was hoping for. I then reverted back to my favorite foundation brush, the Sigma Flat top Kabuki F-80 brush. I found that using this brush to apply the foundation gave me better results. I simply patted the foundation on my F-80 brush and applied to my face in curricular motions, concentrating more on my areas of concern.
At first I was not impressed with the foundation and left the bathroom with disappointment. 5-10 minutes later I looked in the mirror again and was impressed buy the way the minerals sank into my skin and did indeed provide a smooth, natural, flawless look. Keep in mind I am still battling with my acne (My acne is doing a lot better since I started using the clarisonic mia though) so it is very hard to cover all my scaring and current breakouts. I will say that Jane Iredale did not cover all of my current breakouts; however, I will still be keeping this foundation. I have high hopes of getting my acne under control in the near future and cant wait to use just this foundation for my everyday routine. I caught myself looking in the mirror all day and thinking, wow im really loving the natural look! I would recommend this to those with a budget and clear complexion for it; however, if your like me and have bad acne it will not cover it. At $40.00 a refill and $52.00 for the first compact I find it to be over priced but worth it for those wanting a smooth, natural, and flawless face.
The PurePressed® Base comes in a large variety of colors and is available for all skin tones from fair to deep. It do love that is has SPF 20 in it and can be used alone or over another sunblock or foundation. Plus it is recommended by the skin cancer foundation. For now I actually love using this to set my liquid foundation (American Beauty from Kohl’s). It gives me a little more coverage and takes away any excess oil on my face.
Just for comparison – I’ve used powder foundations from Bare Minerals, Sheer Cover, Ferro Cosmetics, elf cosmetics, various drugstore brands, but the Jane Iredale pure pressed is my second favorite choice next to Ferro Cosmetics for mineral powder Foundations.
