Make Up For Ever has been one of my favorite brands since discovering their Make Up For Ever Foundation back in 2013. I immediately fell in love with the foundation, especially for photography, and began discovering and using more of their products as time went on. Some of my first favorites of theirs were the Make Up For Ever aqua rouge lip colors and the Make Up For Ever aqua lip liner pencils, both of which I have fully reviewed on the blog in the past.
Earlier this year I discovered my love for their Artist Shadow, Rouge Artist Lipstick and Artist Plexi-Gloss Lip Lacquer, which I will have a full post, including swatches, soon!
So far I haven’t tried a product by Make Up For Ever that I haven’t loved yet, so when I had the opportunity to try out their new Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation in both the liquid and stick form I was lit with excitement! I requested shade N120 for both the Liquid and stick Ultra HD foundation, which is the same shade I used in their original HD Foundation. This is actually the perfect match for my skin tone, one of the reasons I love it so much. No other foundation I own, or have tried in the past, has been as perfect of a match for my skin as this one.
Along with the new HD foundation, I was also able to try the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer and Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Powder. Both of which I will review more in depth below.
First I want to talk about the amazing new Make Up For Ever Ultra Liquid Foundation, which has replaced the original HD foundation. The new formulation was specifically developed to create a naturally flawless complexion—on and off camera, for the film and TV industry’s most advanced 4k technologies. It uses uniquely coated pigments to provide medium coverage, but with a lightweight texture to give the appearance of real skin. It has a long-lasting, natural-looking finish and is formulated with hyaluronic spheres for time-releases hydration that provide a comfortable wear on all skin types. Available in 40 shades, so everyone can find their perfect shade.
I was already in love with the original HD foundation but have fallen even more in love with the new Ultra HD foundation. It provides superior coverage, which I need for the many acne scars, and active breakouts I have, and lasts even longer then the original release, which I appreciate! I also noticed a much smoother, natural finish and it photographs my skin beautifully. It’s also non-irritant to my sensitive skin, so I can enjoy using it as my everyday foundation.
Next up we have the Ultra HD Foundation Stick. In forms of comparison to the Liquid coverage, they perform exactly the same, in my opinion, except that the foundation stick leaves a more dewy (but not dewy) finish and it has slightly more coverage. Compared to the 40 liquid shades the stick foundation comes in just 15. I was lucky that they carried N120 (my liquid shade) also in stick form. It all comes down to whether or not you prefer liquid or a stick for application and your shade.
I actually like applying the liquid foundation all over and then using the foundation stick for concealer over top of my acne. The liquid foundation alone covers it well, but I like to add a concealer to hide the blemishes as much as possible.
Before applying my foundation I have been using the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Base Nourishing Primer.
I typically stay away from primers, not because I don’t like them but because the ones I have tried break me out. With that said, this one so far has not irritated my skin in the slightest. The texture feels like a lightweight moisturizer and sinks into the skin quickly. It my fine lines less apparent and gave the perfect canvas for foundation application. There are 10 different primers to choose from, depending on your skin concern. As mentioned aforementioned, I chose the Nourishing primer, which instantly replenishes dry and dehydrated skin with a moisture-rich soothing formula.
To set my make up I have been using the Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Microfinish Powder, an industry must-have and best of beauty award winner. It is made with 100% mineral finishing powder that softens the appearance of fine lines and pores, which I have lots of unfortunately. It sets the skin for a natural, radiant complexion and helps to minimize shine with a slightly matt finish.
I also have a hard time finding finishing powders that don’t make me break out but to my surprise this one didn’t and boy am I glad! I love the way it sets my look.
I created this look below to show how well the products perform. In this look I am wearing all of the aforementioned products as well as the Make Up For Ever Eyeshadows and Artist Liner on my eyes and for my Lips I am wearing the Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Liner in 25C and Rouge Artist Lipstick N44.
- Normally I lightly smooth the skin and remove my blemishes in my photos because of how much acne I have ( I never do this when reviewing foundation ) but since I am reviewing foundation and wanted to show how well the foundation does that on its own, I didn’t edit my skin.
Have you tried the new Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation in either liquid or stick form? Have you tried any other products by MUFE? What are you thoughts? I would love for you to hear your thought!
