I am very indecisive when it comes to my hair. I either go through a phase of wanting to grow my hair out to its natural color or through a phase of dying it. A little over a month ago I was dead set on growing my hair out to my natural color but couldn’t stand how terrible my roots were anymore, which always seems to be the case. Even if I dye my hair similar to my natural color, it is never close enough to not see the roots and I end up giving in to dying it again.

This time I wanted to try something new and went for a very ashy grey/blonde and added extensions in for the first time ever. My sister is a hair stylist and was the one who bleached my hair and added in my extensions. I had to bleach my hair twice because of how dark it was underneath. I actually need to dye it once more to get it fully the way I want but I am doing it slowly so that I don’t damage my hair.

One thing I have always hated about dying my hair is how fast the color fades, especially when I dye my hair blonde. This time around I decided to try and protect my hair from fading or turning brassy. I have managed to keep my hair color looking good with a few new products in my routine, the Nexxus Colors Assure Sulfate free system, the first oil-infused color care system by Nexxus, and it provides 2X longer color protection, and a purple shampoo once a week.

Since dying my hair I have been using the NEXUSS shampoo, conditioner, glossing tonic and the amazing Pre Wash Primer in the Color Assure Line. Because of my desire for an ashy/silver look I have also been using a purple shampoo about once a week or every 3rd or 4th wash.

The product that stands out to me the most from the NEXXUS Color Assure line is the Pre Wash Primer. I have never used or heard of a pre wash primer before now but basically before you shower, you apply 5-7 pumps to dry hair, starting at the ends and working up to the root. You only need enough to make sure that your hair is soft and silky, but not saturated. (tip** If your hands are greasy after applying the Primer, then you have applied too much). You then wash hair as normal once in the shower.

What makes the NEW Nexxus Color Assure Pre-Wash Primer so special? It’s a pre-treatment to shield hair in the shower. It helps to repel water, so color stays longer and more vibrant. The Pre-Wash Primer is sulfate-free and infused with a blend of clear oils, including almond, coconut and argan oil.

  • Almond oil is known to lock in moisture, nourish hair and reduce breakage
  • Coconut oil is known to provide softness and elasticity
  • Argan oil is known to improve shine and vibrancy
  • White Orchid Extract is known to provide moisture and works to seal and protect hair by repelling water** and keep it from entering the core.

Look for the Nexxus Color Assure Pre-Wash Primer, Color Assure Vibrancy Retention Shampoo, Color Assure Vibrancy Retention Conditioner and Color Assure Glossing Tonic in mass retailers, select drugstores and supermarkets nationwide.
