Before becoming a full-time blogger I worked in a few different office jobs that required dress codes. Some were stricter than others but one thing remained the same; my office wardrobe was often pricey. Most of my jobs required me to either dress Business Casual or Casual with some jobs allowing jeans as long as there was no holes. Believe it or not; a good pair of fitted slacks, a button up shirt, cardigan and especially a blazer can cost a pretty penny. I remember going to thrift stores to get my slacks and blazers. I could get a nice blazer for $2-$10 as opposed to $70+. Same with a pair of slacks. It was rare to come across really good name brands like Tory Burch, Ann Taylor or J. Crew though. When I first discovered Thredup, an second hand online store, I became hooked.
It can become overwhelming looking through the thousands of pieces they have on their site at a time, so I typically only search by brands I love, my size and specific items I am looking for. For Fall, I absolutely love wearing cardigans, blazers, and jackets, so that is what I searched for this time around. I also searched for my favorite brands that are often to pricey for me elsewhere like Tory Burch, J. Crew, Burberry, etc. I came across several pieces I just loved and at amazing price points. When I received my order I noticed that many of the pieces I picked out would be perfect for as office attire, as well and thought a post on work wear ideas would be fun.
One of my favorite finds from ThredUp this last order was this gorgeous magenta pink Tory Burch Cardigan with gold hardware. I have wanted a Tory Burch cardigan for a while now, so I was ecstatic to find this one! They actually have several other ones on the site and seem to get them in often. I have my eye on the maroon one next! They typically run $200+ new but I scored this one for $43.15 after my discount (use code WOW40 for 40% off!). For a gently used cardigan, it was a total steal! I layered it over a basic white button up shirt that is an office attire essential.
I found one other Tory Burch Cardigan I had to have, which was this one in black with gold detailing. This one was practically brand new and in excellent condition. I paid only $44.96 for it after the 40% off with code WOW40 discount. A black cardigan is another staple piece for the office. I also layered this one over my white button up shirt but tucked it into a mustard pencil skirt for a business casual look.
The next piece I picked up was this J. Crew Navy Blue wool blazer. I love J. Crew blazers but they can get rather pricey. Typically $200-$300+. I got this one on sale at ThredUp for just $22.10! It said is was gently used but it looks pretty new to me. I have wanted a navy blue wool blazer for years but never found the right fitted one at a good price until now! Blazers are another staple pice for the office and can be styled for business formal, business professional, business casual, and casual like I have done. For my casual look I tucked in a striped top and added a belt around the waist.
This next look up is a great business casual look that also uses a blazer but with a pair of slacks. This is another J.Crew wool blazer I got from ThredUp for just $22.10! I layered it over my white button up closet staple with a pair of J.Crew slacks that I purchased from ThredUp last year.
Topshop Tweed Jacket (use code WOW40 for 40% off!) | Ann Taylor Button Up | Current Elliott Coated Skinnies | Same Edelman Pointed Toe Flats (part of #Nsale) | Kate Spade Crocodille Handbag | Ann Taylor Pearl Necklace
This last look is wearing another one of my favorite office attire staples, which is a tweed jacket. I have several tweed jackets and LOVE the classiness of them. I loved wearing them to work and outside of work. This one is from Topshop and came brand new with tags attached from ThredUp. I only paid $6.37 for this piece! I again wore it over my white button up (seriously if you don’t have one yet, get one or two!) with a pair of pointed toe flats.
