Sleep Innovations “No Place Like Home” for the Holidays

We all know the saying, “there’s no place like home,” and that couldn’t be truer during the holidays. Did you know that 81% of Americans ages 18-33 visit their family during this time of year, even though it sometimes means sleeping in uncomfortable places like the couch, basement or even childhood bedroom.

I stopped living at home around the age of 17 but I never moved away from my home town until after I was married at the age of 20, so going home for the holidays was a short car ride away and didn’t require staying the night over. After marring my spouse I became a military wife and we went overseas to Germany where I spent my first holiday season away from family. The next year I moved in with my parents while my husband deployed for a year and upon his arrival home we moved to or next duty station in Georgia. Since his family lived on that side of the coast we visited them during several holidays. We always slept on bunk beds in his younger brother and sisters’ room when at his moms’ house. Our next duty station was to Texas, which is actually about a 5 hour drive to his dads in one direction or my home town in the other direction, so we have taken many trips to visit them since living in TX. I will say that visiting his dads or my parents house has always been a comfortable sleep. They both have spare rooms with very comfortable beds that my family of 4 can fit in. We have stayed at my younger sisters house a few times when visiting my hometown, which consists of us either sleeping on the couch or the spare room filled with stinky reptiles (she likes reptiles) and a mattress on the floor lol.

Sometimes these sleeping situations can be “Awkward,” but in spite of that there is still no place like home for the holidays, which is why Sleep Innovations has launched a “No Place Like Home” Campaign and is kicking it off with the help of Ashley Rickards, star of MTV’s hit show, “Awkward.” Sleep Innovations wants you to embrace your akward sleeping arrangements this holiday season by joing the conversation or sharing a picture of your sleeping situation over the holidays using the hashtag #SINoPlaceLikeHome on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter between 11/15/15 and 12/31/15. You will be entered to win one of their easy-to-ship memory foam mattresses in a box to help makeover your sleeping situation with a customized fit and possibly anther surprise as well! Morever, those who use the hastag #SINoPlaceLikeHome will be contributing $1 to stand up for Kids health wellness Program, which provides medical and well-being to homeless youth across the country. So start hash tagging your photos and help those kids out and get your chance to win one of these amazing mattresses.

This past year we decided that we would not be traveling to see family for the holidays but rather they would have to travel to see us for once 😉 We enjoy going to visit family but have started a family of our own and there truly is “No Place Like Home.” Home is where my kids and husband are. I have really enjoyed family coming to visit us this past year. We have a full size bed in our son’s room so that when guests come they have a nice place to sleep; however, the mattress we have is over 10 years old and may not be the comfiest. It’s actually the mattress I grew up sleeping on in my teen years. Not to mention, after hosting several families over this past year I have learned that its kind of to small for couples to sleep on when they visit. I have wanted to upgrade it to a queen or king size bed for a while now and finally got the opportunity to thanks to Sleep Innovations. After receiving the new mattress from Sleep Innovations, we may have put it in our master room and given our old King mattress (only a few years old) to the spare bed. Merry Christmas to us!

My husband, kids and I absolutely love this new mattress and how comfortable it is. I actually sleep almost all the way through the night now (I use to wake up 6-7 times a night) and don’t wake up with back problems anymore. We had a memory foam mattress before but I never liked how it felt. I always felt like my body was slanting downward when laying on it and I had a lot of back issues. I now believe that not all memory foam mattresses are created equal. In fact, Sleep Innovations doesn’t even offer a one-size-fits all mattresses because they firmly believe that every body type is unique. Their sleep products actually respond to you – your body and your needs. I can honestly say that I have found this to be very true. It’s no wonder why they get so many amazing reviews. They use the most adaptable, inventive foam on the market and I couldn’t believe how affordable the mattresses are. For the 14″ memory foam King Alden mattress we got it was just under $630, which is an amazing deal for a high quality memory foam mattress. I love that it can be ordered online (Also available in Amazon with free prim shipping) and comes vacuum sealed in a box. They are actually the original mattress in a box.

Seriously such an adorable family!! Sleeping in less than ideal places during the holidays is a small price to pay to be able to spend it with the ones we love!
