As much as I love trying out new trends each season, I much more prefer staple-based pieces with endless outfit possibilities like the ones I continue to find from Sears Simply Styled Line. Today’s post is dedicated to two simple dresses with different silhouettes that both embody a timeless flair that stays in style year after year and fashion season after fashion season.
I’m also talking about one of my current favorite trends and how easily your wardrobe-staple pieces can be incorporated into current trends. Let’s talk knots: Knotted tops, dresses, and skirts are some of those trends that are so easy and effortless, anyone can pull them off. Adding a knot is an easy way to add a subtle twist on your everyday wardrobe that feels fresh without trying to hard.
The first wardrobe-staple dress I am styling is a T-shirt shift dress. Shift dresses are effortless pieces that flatter almost every body type. I went with this Simply Styled t-shirt dress because stripes happen to be a favorite of mine—not to mention they are the ultimate go-to for any season. They are effortless when it comes to dressing casually or dressing up. To incorporate an effortless yet trendy feel, I knotted the dress slightly to the side using just an elastic band. This is an example of a great way to try new trends without spending a penny.
For this next look, you may recall that I styled this same Simply Styled knit tank dress last month, but in grey, with a leather jacket and lace-up heels. When I saw that they released this little number in coral (perfect shade for spring), I quickly added it to my wardrobe. These tank dresses are so versatile. I’ve styled them casually, edgy, and, today, work-appropriate for the working girl! I’m giving this staple dress an on-trend yet feminine vibe by knotting the front—an effortless way to add a classic flair perfect for the office. I styled the dress with classic yet on-trend pieces like this boyfriend-style blazer and caged sandals.
Both of these dresses definitely do not need to be dressed up with heels as I have shown here. They look just as good unknotted and paired with sandals, a pair of sneakers, or a lightweight summer scarf.
